Result: Car Seat Carrier

Based on the research that I have done most people who have purchased car seat carriers are happiest with either the:

1) Graco SnugRider Infant Car Seat Stroller Frame
or the
2) Kolcraft Universal Infant Car Seat Carrier

They both cost about $59.99 so the price is about the same for either of them. Both of them are considered light and folds easily. The pro for the Graco seat is that the (Graco) car seat actually snaps into it so it appears to be safer. The pro for the Kolcraft is that it maneuvers well, is easy to push, has a large bar for storage on the top and has a bigger basket that is easier to access.

Persoannly, I have both of these infant car seats and really like the one made by Kolcraft better. Although when using the Snugrider (made by Graco), the car seat actually snaps in - I had a very hard time getting it to snap in and also to remove it. In addition, I could not put as many things in the basket and had a harder time getting removing whatever I could put in. I actually had to bend down to the floor to reach these items. This is both due to the fact that the basket on the Kolcraft is larger and the car seat is lower down on the Snugrider (which I did not like). The Snugrider also only has two cup holders as opposed to Kolcraft that has a whole bar to put things in. When pushing the two strollers, the Kolcraft seemed to handle bumps in the road better and provided a smoother and easier ride. Although, the car seat does not snap into the Kolcraft it does latch on and if you feel that this isn't secure enough you can also (and should) close the safety strap. This should provide more than adequate security. So if I were to advise a friend, I would tell them to buy the Kolcraft.

Reminder: You should always check the list of accommodating car seats before purchasing any car seat carrier to verify that it fits with the car seat that you are buying.

Amazon is having a sale now on the Kolcraft carrier and you can get it for under $50.00 ($48.49 to be exact so it is over a $10 savings).

Results: Infant Car Seats

Based on the research that I have done most people who have purchased car seats are happiest with the following car seats. I am dividing them into two groups and I am listing average prices for each. The first group of car seats have weight limits that go up to about 22 pounds. The second group have weight limits that go up to about 30 pounds.

Group 1:
1) Graco Snugride $99.99
2) Britax Companion $199.99
3) Inglesina Zippy (but it is annoying since it cannot work without the base) $169.99

Group 2:
1) Graco SafeSeat $129.99
2) Peg Perego Primo Viaggio (good side impact) $249.99
3) Chicco Keyfit $169.99

The first thing that I would take into account would be my children's' birth weights. If me older children had been large babies or if I know that large infants run in my family then I would probably go for a car seat from group 2 since they allow for a baby up to 30 pounds as opposed to 22 pounds. You must realize though that each baby is different and yours might not fit well into a certain car seat even while still within the weight and height limits (just like with diapers). Also if you do choose a car seat from group 2 they will be heavier than the car seats from group 1 - they are larger and therefore weight more since they accommodate larger babies. This might not seem like a big deal but trust me, once you put your baby into the car seat it just gets heavier and heavier. I can barely carry my son in his car seat down the block. My husband always has to do it, otherwise I use the stroller that you can attach a car seat into. As the baby gets heavier you are able to carry more - I think because your muscles are getting stronger as they are being used more.

Otherwise I would stick to a car seat from group 1 and for me it would be between either the Britax Companion or the Graco Snugride. They are both very popular and safe.

Below are some links to purchase the above mentioned car seats. I find that I can get good deals on Amazon often. I will check periodically to see if there are deals going on at different times.

Opinions Needed

Hey everyone, after having a baby over eight months ago I realized how little I knew of what products I needed for my baby. I made stupid purchases (some of them I returned, the others I realized to late and am stuck with). I got discouraged (and did not have time) to go onto the many websites of baby items and click on EACH and EVERY item in order to see peoples opinions. It became time consuming and boring. I would like to make up a blog where people vote on what products they liked, disliked and why. This way, all of the date collected can be on one page which will be easier to see and thus make the decision of which product to buy easier.

How this will work:
1 - Each week I will choose a new item (can be anything not just baby items) and post it. For example on my first week I will be choosing infant car seats.
2 - I will then list a few different brands and makes of car seats.
3 - Everyone will give their feedback (including me).
4 - After a few days I will post the majority of the opinions. So to go back to my example, if most people like a certain car seat I will list that one along with the reasons that people have given in favor of it.
5 - I will then go to a few websites to see which website has the best deal. If I find any deals I will post the website and the items regular price and sale price.
6 - Every once in a while I will review old products to see if any new deals have come out.
7 - People can suggest different items that they would like to see reviewed. For example, if you want to buy a new hairdryer, you can suggest that item and I will try to post it as soon as possible (obviously depending on how many requests I get).
8 - In this way you can also look at previous items for feedback and can see ALL of the reviews by looking at the user comments if you are not satisfied with the final choice.
